One person was injured in a San Francisco pedestrian accident after being struck by a Muni light rail vehicle. According to a news report in the San Francisco Examiner, the injury accident occurred the afternoon of January 28, 2010 near the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Judah Street. A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in an Orange County car accident after his motorcycle crossed over into opposing lanes of traffic and hit an SUV. The Orange County Register reports that the injury motorcycle crash occurred the morning of January 24, 2010 on Santiago Canyon Road in Orange. The motorcyclist was riding with other motorcyclists and going east on Santiago Canyon, when he suddenly veered to the other side of the road and collided with a Toyota Highlander SUV. The injured motorcyclist was transported in critical condition to a local hospital. There were no other injuries, officials said.

I hope and pray that this injured motorcyclist recovers quickly and completely from his injuries. I sympathize with this injured victim and his family. Please keep them in your prayers.

Five people, including two children, were injured in a Bakersfield car accident involving a suspected drunk driver, the morning of January 27, 2010. According to an ABC news report, 49-year-old Benjamin Feliz was driving his Mercury Sable north on Comanche Drive when he crossed into opposing lanes of traffic and collided with a Honda Accord driven by 33-year-old Alicia Carrera. Police officials said Carrera and her passengers – aged 9 and 12 – sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital. Four people suffered injuries in a San Francisco car accident the morning of January 27, 2010, CBS News reports. The accident occurred in the Ingelside Heights neighborhood when two cars crashed at the intersection of Brotherhood Way and Arch Street. San Francisco fire officials said one of the drivers fled the scene of the accident, but police arrived quickly and managed to apprehend the hit-and-run suspect a few blocks away. Maria Hemphill, 45, was killed in a San Diego car accident after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed on the State Route 76 in Fallbrook. According to a report in The Village News, the fatal car accident occurred when Hemphill was driving westbound on the highway near Valley Center Road, the afternoon of January 24, 2010. Her vehicle went off the roadway and through a fence. According to the coroner, Hemphill suffered severe head injuries including several skull fractures and bleeding of the brain. Rosa Macias, 64, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after the stalled vehicle in which she was a passenger was struck by another car on the 210 Freeway. According to a news report in the Pasadena Star News, Macias was a passenger in a 1996 Geo Prizm that was stopped in the carpool lane of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena the night of January 24, 2010. A 31-year-old man driving a 2005 Infiniti, who failed to see the stalled vehicle ahead of him, struck the right rear of the Prizm. The impact from the crash caused the Prizm to spin around and the Infiniti to catch fire. Macias died at the scene and the driver, a 63-year-old man, was hospitalized with moderate injuries. Three people were injured in a Riverside car accident involving a suspected drunk driver the morning of January 18, 2010. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the injury crash involving two cars occurred on the eastbound 10 Freeway in Palm Desert near Washington Street. One of the vehicles burst into flames and occupants in the other vehicle were trapped inside. California Highway Patrol officials used heavy equipment to rescue the victims from the vehicle. Three injured victims were taken to an area hospital. However, officials say the injuries are not life-threatening. A woman who sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run Los Angeles car accident early morning on January 15, 2010, has been identified by local officials as Charmmaine Ouk, 25. According to a KPCC news report, Ouk was riding in a car driven by someone else, when she became ill and got out of the vehicle in an alley. She then ran onto Normandie Avenue near 204th Street in the Harbor Gateway area. That's when a gray or brown minivan struck her. The driver fled the scene of the crash.
