A woman sustained injuries in an Orange County car accident the morning of August 7, 2009 after her Lexus crashed into a flower delivery van, The Orange County Register reports. The car crash occurred at the intersection of Portola Parkway and Tustin Ranch in Tustin, California. The driver of the delivery van was not injured, but the woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

My heart goes out to this woman who was injured in the car collision. I'm relieved though, that her injuries were not life-threatening. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Anaheim Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were two fatalities and 392 injuries involving car accidents in Tustin, California. In Orange County, 178 deaths and 14,185 injuries were reported in 2007 as a result of car accidents.

This news article offers very little information about how or why this Anaheim car accident occurred. There are more questions than answers here. Did someone run a red light at the intersection? Who had the right-of-way? Did one of the vehicles fail to yield right-of-way at the intersection? Was anyone involved intoxicated, distracted or otherwise negligent, thereby causing this accident? The answers to these important questions will help determine whether there was any negligence or wrongdoing in this case.

Car Accident Liability Issues

The driver of the flower delivery van, it seems to me, was on-the-job at the time of the car accident. If that driver is determined to have been at fault, both he/she or his/her employer could be held liable for the accident and injuries caused. The victim may be able to seek compensation to cover medical costs, loss of wages and other related expenses.

The injured victim in this case would be well-advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer, who can analyze all aspects of this case and determine who should be held responsible. If a dangerous intersection caused or contributed to this car accident, the city or governmental agency responsible for maintaining that roadway could also be held liable. Please remember that any claim against a governmental agency must be properly filed within 180 days of the accident or injury.
