Fatal Los Angeles County Car Accident
April 27th, 2009 | SteveJennifer Marie Garcia, 21, of West Covina was killed and three others suffered serious personal injuries in a Los Angeles car accident on April 25, 2009, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports. The fatal Walnut car accident occurred early morning on Amar Road near Braes River Drive when a two-door sedan, which was westbound on Amar Road, struck a tree in the center median. Garcia was a passenger in the vehicle. The three other injured victims were only identified as men. At least one of them was listed in critical condition. Officials are still looking into what may have caused the car's driver to lose control.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of Jennifer Marie Garcia for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who knew and loved her. I also hope the other victims in this car collision are recovering from their serious personal injuries and wish them the very best for a quick and complete recovery. Please keep them in your prayers.
According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System, there was one fatal traffic accident and 53 injury traffic accidents in Walnut. In Los Angeles County as a whole in 2007, there were 712 fatalities and 56,475 injuries as a result of traffic accidents.
Based on this newspaper report, it is not clear what caused this car crash. Officials say motorists tend to speed on that section of Amar Road, which is notorious for car accidents. But there is no evidence yet that this driver was speeding. The speed limit on that section of the street is apparently 50 mph. Neighbors interviewed by the newspaper say they have seen many traffic accidents on that portion of Amar and that the city should consider lowering the speed limit there.
There is also no indication here that the driver was incapacitated or somehow distracted while at the wheel. I trust officials are looking into whether there was a dangerous condition on the roadway that caused the vehicle to strike the tree or whether there was a mechanical malfunction or car product defect in the sedan that caused this fatal car crash.
The family of young Jennifer Marie Garcia and the other injured victims would be well-advised to consult experienced Southern California car accident lawyers, who will study the accident investigation reports thoroughly and determine the facts of the case. Skilled California personal injury attorneys will also look into whether a dangerous condition on this roadway may have caused or contributed to this tragic car crash. Any claim against a California governmental agency must be filed within six months of a car accident.
