A man was killed in a fiery Ventura car accident the morning of December 15, 2009 after he lost control of his car, the Ventura County Star reports. The fatal car accident occurred near the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Avenida De Los Arboles. The man, who has not yet been identified, was driving east on Avenida De Los Arboles, when his car went off the roadway. The car then struck a tree on an embankment along the side of the road and then went down a ravine, before catching fire. The driver, the only person in the car, died at the scene. Ventura County Sheriff's investigators are looking into the cause of the car accident.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this victim for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. Please keep them in your prayers during this difficult time.

Car Accident Causes

Based on this newspaper report, it is hard to tell what exactly caused this tragic car accident. There are more questions than answers here. Was alcohol, fatigue or speed a factor? Investigators believe speed may have been a factor, but accident reconstruction teams are still trying to piece the physical evidence from the crash scene to determine that. Was the accident caused by a vehicle defect or a mechanical malfunction? Was the driver run off the roadway by another vehicle? Was this fatal car crash the result of a dangerous condition on the roadway?

Hopefully, traffic investigators are looking at these and other factors, and will soon arrive at a determination. However, it would be in the best interests of victims' families, in such cases, to seek the legal counsel of an experienced California personal injury lawyer, who will stay abreast of the official investigation and make sure their rights are protected. If family members suspect an auto product defect played a part, they should definitely preserve the vehicle in its current state, unaltered, so it can be carefully examined by an expert for malfunctions, vehicle defects and other evidence.
