A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in a Newport Beach car accident after he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck the morning of October 30, 2009. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the accident occurred along MacArthur Boulevard near Ford Road. The pickup truck was apparently traveling south on MacArthur when the boy ran out into traffic, Newport Beach police officials said. The boy was transported to an area hospital and was said to have been "alert and talking" at the time. His condition was however listed as serious.
My heart goes out to this child who has apparently been serious injured. I hope and pray that he did not sustain major or catastrophic injuries. I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep this young man and his family in your prayers.

Car Accident Issues and Questions
Based on this news report, police officials are saying that the driver of the pickup truck had the right-of-way and the green light at the time of the collision. According to officials, the boy darted out on to the street suddenly and the pickup truck driver couldn't stop in time to avoid the collision. However, the accident still seems to be under investigation. It may not happen in this case, but quite often, preliminary determinations in car accidents turn out to be erroneous. Sometimes traffic investigators get new information, perhaps from an eyewitness report, which could entirely change the story.
