Tragic Hit-and-Run Crash
My heart goes out to the family and friends of this woman for their tragic and sudden loss. I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who knew and loved this woman. This grieving family will certainly be in my prayers.
I sincerely hope police apprehend this hit-and-run driver who basically left this woman to die on the street. Had this driver stopped and called 911, she may have received the medical attention she needed right away. What kind of a person leaves anyone to die on the street? Despicable!
Hit-and-Run Laws
Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious crime in California, as it should be. Motorists are required to stop at the scene of the collision, exchange information with the other parties. In case of injuries, drivers should do what they can to get help. It can be something as simple as picking up your cell phone and calling 911. According to California Vehicle Code section 20001: "The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident."
