The man was ejected from the Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle he was in when it rolled over on the southbound side of Highway 163.

Good Samaritans apparently came to the aid of the victim, California Highway Patrol officials said. The man who was ejected from the SUV was taken to an area hospital with injuries, San Diego Fire Department officials said.

I sincerely hope the person involved in this San Diego rollover accident did not suffer major injuries. I wish him the very best for a quick and complete recovery. Please keep him in your prayers.

According to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System (http://www.chp.ca.gov/switrs/pdf/2007-sec8.pdf), there were 84 fatalities and 6,156 injuries reported in San Diego that involved car accidents. In San Diego County as a whole, 268 deaths and 14,641 injuries were reported as a result of car accidents in 2007.

Based on this newspaper report, it does not seem to me that the 4Runner was traveling at a high rate of speed. Given the Toyota 4Runner's tendency to tip over even at moderate speeds, I would look into whether the SUV's defective design caused or contributed to this rollover accident. Bisnar | Chase has represented victims who have suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of a Toyota 4Runner rollover and roof crush. In this case, I'd be curious not only to find out whether the vehicle's inherent instability caused this rollover crash, but also whether the injured victim was ejected from the vehicle because of a seat restraint system failure.

The injured victim in this case would be well-advised to seek the counsel of a nationally-renowned auto product defect law firm that has had extensive experience in successfully representing clients against large auto makers such as Toyota, Ford and General Motors. The victim should also preserve the 4Runner in its current condition so it can be examined by an expert for auto product defects including seatbelt defects.
