According to a news report in The Record Searchlight, the major injury car accident occurred on Highway 99 near Lassen View Elementary School in Redding the afternoon of December 2, 2010.

Police say 71-year-old James Farris failed to notice his 2008 Subaru had drifted into a right turn lane of the school before it crashed into a 2003 Nissan that was stopped at the intersection. The Nissan then spun around and hit a 2002 Ford that was also stopped at the intersection and being driven by Dexter Rogers, 60.
