Under California law, motorists are required to stop at the scene of the accident, irrespective of whether or not the accident was his or her fault. A skilled car accident lawyer will also be able to determine how the family's car insurance policy applies to a hit-and-run case or an incident where the at-fault driver does not have insurance or sufficient insurance coverage.
