A woman sustained injuries in a San Francisco pedestrian accident the morning of March 9, 2010 after she was struck by a city garbage truck. According to a CBS News report, the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk across Presidio Avenue at Pine Street, in the Laurel Heights area, when the truck struck her. The city vehicle was turning on to Presidio Avenue from Pine Street at the time of the collision. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. A man was fatally injured in a San Francisco car accident after he was struck by a vehicle while walking across the street in a marked crosswalk. According to a news report on Claycord.com, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of February 15, 2010 at the intersection of Clayton Road and Barbis Way in Concord. The pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk at Barbis Way when a Buick sedan struck him. Officials are looking into the possibility of drugs or alcohol being a factor in this fatal collision. One person was injured in a San Francisco pedestrian accident after being struck by a Muni light rail vehicle. According to a news report in the San Francisco Examiner, the injury accident occurred the afternoon of January 28, 2010 near the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Judah Street. Two children, ages 4 and 6, sustained serious injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after they were struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. The Los Angeles Daily News reports that the injury pedestrian accident occurred the morning of December 8, 2009 in the 7600 block of Corbin Avenue in Reseda. Both children were seriously hurt and were airlifted to a Los Angeles hospital. However, both are now listed in stable condition. The driver that hit the children fled the scene of the accident. Police are looking for the hit-and-run vehicle and driver.

Thomas Klopfstein, 58, was fatally injured in a San Diego car accident after a pickup truck driven by a Chula Vista city councilman struck him as he was crossing the road the morning of December 3, 2009. According to a 10 news report, Klopfstein was walking on Campo Road near Community Building Road at the time of the pedestrian-car crash. The driver, Rudy Ramirez, 49, told investigators that he did not see Klopfstein walk in front of his eastbound Toyota Tundra because the sun was in his eyes. Ramirez has not been cited for the accident.

Carlos Gomez-Nila, 35, was killed in an Orange County car accident after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Gomez-Nila was walking on Western Avenue near Tyler Avenue in Anaheim the night of November 22, 2009 when a Toyota Camry going north struck him. He apparently got up and tried to walk, but was then fatally hit by a Toyota RAV4 heading south on Western, Anaheim police said. Officials said the driver of the RAV4 saw the pedestrian and tried to swerve out of the way but failed to do so. Gomez-Nila died at the scene.

A 24-year-old skateboarder has died in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The man, who has not been identified, was heading west in the right eastbound lane of Hacienda Drive near South Emerald Drive in Vista early morning on November 15, 2009 when he was hit by a white 1987 BMW driven by a 23-year-old man. Apparently, witnesses told officials that the skateboarder crossed directly into the path of the car, which was heading east. The victim was treated at the scene, but he reportedly died before being taken to the hospital. The driver of the BMW has not been arrested pending a police investigation.

A 46-year-old woman sustained critical injuries in a San Diego car accident after she was struck by a van at a parking lot in Chula Vista, California. According to a 10news report, the woman who has not yet been identified, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition with a skull fracture. The pedestrian accident occurred the evening of November 12, 2009, when the woman was walking in a parking lot near Broadway and Palomar Street. The van, which was being driven by a 43-year-old man, struck her. Officials say the van was traveling slowly through the parking lot at the time of the collision. When the driver realized that he had hit someone, he looked out the window and saw the woman lying under the van before the front left tire. No arrests have been made pending a police investigation.

Darlene Johnson, 65, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was struck by a vehicle the evening of November 10, 2009. According to a news report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Johnson was walking on Southwood Lane near the corner of Westwood Lane in Highland, California, when she was hit by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was apparently making a left turn onto Westwood from Southwood, when the collision occurred. The driver stopped and called emergency personnel. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman sustained head injuries in an Orange County car accident after she was hit by a car while crossing a street in Irvine, California. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the woman was walking across Irvine Center Drive at Harvard Avenue the night of November 3, 2009 when she was hit by a Lexus ES 350 sedan, which was traveling west on the street.
