A 90-year-old man was injured in a San Diego traffic accident when a pickup truck backed up over him. According to a 10News report, the pedestrian accident occurred at 8620 Al Court in the San Diego neighborhood of Serra Mesa the morning of July 10, 2012. Officials say the victim was run over by a Ford F-250 that was backing up. He suffered a bruised brain and a severe laceration over his left eye that required surgery. It is not clear if the 50-year-old male driver for the pickup will be cited for the collision.

Based on this news report, it appears that the motorist involved in this injury accident was backing up at the time of the crash. California Vehicle Code 22106 states: "No person shall start a vehicle stopped, standing, or parked on a highway, nor shall any person back a vehicle on a highway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety." Jose Luis Lopez, 26, was killed in a San Bernardino County motorcycle crash after he lost control of his cycle while rounding a curve. According to The Press-Enterprise, the fatal motorcycle crash occurred the night of July 9, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say Lopez was riding a 2001 Yamaha R6 when he lost control and hit a curb while traveling north on Cedar Avenue near Fifth Street in Crestmore, a community south of Bloomington. Lopez was transported to an area hospital where he died. CHP officials are investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

Harold Blahut, 62, was killed in a San Bernardino County bike accident after a vehicle struck him, the night of July 8, 2012. According to a news report in The Victorville Daily Press, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Sultana Street and Hickory Avenue in Hesperia. Officials say Blahut was cycling west on Sultana and was crossing Hickory Avenue when a Volkswagen Passat being driven by 34-year-old Carlena Sanchez hit him. Blahut was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Officials suspect that alcohol was involved. The investigation is ongoing.

A child was seriously injured in a car crash in Los Angeles, which involved multiple vehicles. According to the Los Angeles Times, the car crash occurred on the 101 Freeway west of Haskell Avenue in Encino, the afternoon of July 7, 2012. Officials say four vehicles were involved and a white Toyota 4Runner overturned in the collision. The child sustained a severe arm injury. Three adults suffered minor injuries in the crash as well. It is unclear as to which driver was responsible for the pileup.

A skateboarder was seriously injured in a Temecula car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury collision occurred on July 5, 2012 as the skateboarder was crossing a driveway near Claim Jumper on Rancho California Road just east of Ynez Road when a white pickup truck towing a horse trailer struck him. The young man flew off his skateboard and sustained injuries to his arm and cuts to his face. The truck sped away after hitting the skateboarder. The suspect vehicle has been described as a white pickup truck towing a small horse trailer that was westbound on Rancho California Road. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's Southwest Station at 951-696-3000.

A Sacramento city worker was attacked by a man with a hatchet Tuesday morning when she and a colleague were repairing a faulty photo cell in a streetlight. The father of the man suspected of carrying out the attack says his son suffers from schizophrenia.
Police and fire personnel were called to the area of Sunrise Drive and Rock Creek Way just after 9 a.m., after senior maintenance worker Paula Sorensen said a man with a hatchet had approached her and at least one other colleague in a city pickup truck. The man smashed the window of the truck and told Sorensen, "There's more where that came from," before running into a home on Stallings Drive.
The report on KXTV News 10 says Sorensen suffered cuts to both her face and arm in the attack. The attacker left the first house he’d run into and reportedly barricaded himself into another home. Police had the area surrounded before 10 a.m.

Two women, one of them identified as Deven Dolezal, 22, were killed in a Hemet car accident after a broadside collision, the night of July 3, 2012. According to The Press-Enterprise, the fatal accident occurred near the intersection Warren and Simpson roads. Police say Dolezal's vehicle was broadsided by an SUV that crossed into oncoming traffic. Dolezal and the female driver of the SUV were killed in the crash. Two others were critically injured and two others suffered minor injuries. All four injured victims were hospitalized. An investigation is ongoing.

According to a news report in The Daily Breeze, the injury crash occurred at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Cabrillo Avenue, the morning of July 2, 2012. Two of the injured victims were in serious condition, but are expected to survive. Three of the injured victims were minors and two were elderly. Police are still investigating the circumstances of this injury collision.

According to a news article in The Press Enterprise, the pedestrian accident occurred on Kalmia Street near Jefferson Avenue in Murrieta. Officials have not released information regarding how or why the accident occurred. Voorhees was pronounced dead shortly after the crash at a nearby medical center. The incident remains under investigation.
