A car accident in Orange County involving two cars left one woman seriously injured. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Glassell Street the morning of May 13, 2010. A Ford Taurus was T-boned by a Nissan Altima at the intersection, officials said. The driver of the Nissan did not sustain any injuries. However, the driver of the Taurus had to be cut out from the wreckage. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

I sympathize with this injured victim. I hope she has not sustained catastrophic injuries in this crash. I wish her the very best for a quick and full recovery.

Right-of-Way Issues

If the details of this news report are accurate, it appears that this T-bone crash occurred at a street intersection. Apparently, one of the drivers either failed to yield right-of-way or possibly ran a red light, both of which are serious traffic violations. I would be curious to find out whether impairment, speed, distractions or reckless driving played a part in this injury collision. According to California Vehicle Code section 21800 (a): "The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway." Running a red light is also a serious traffic violation under California Vehicle Code section 21453 (a).

Claim for Compensation

Injured victims in such cases would be well-advised to consult an experienced California personal injury lawyer who will analyze all aspects of this crash and make sure the negligent parties are held accountable. A knowledgeable accident lawyer will also advise victims about how their car insurance policy applies to an accident involving an at-fault motorist who is uninsured or underinsured.
