California Car Accident Reports

A woman who sustained fatal injuries in an Oakland car accident the afternoon of February 9, 2010 has been identified by officials as 45-year-old Italy Batchelor. CBS News reports that the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Eighth Street and Mandela Parkway. The driver did not stop and was last seen fleeing east on Eighth. Police say the hit-and-run vehicle was a newer model dark blue or black car, possibly a Lexus with front end damage. Batchelor was pronounced dead at the scene. Read the rest of this entry »

A 54-year-old hit-and-run driver was arrested in connection with a San Diego car accident, which killed 17-year-old Marlene Resendiz on November 24, 2007. According to a 10News report, Tiffany St. Ives was arrested this week, more than two years after that fatal car accident. Police have been searching for a black sedan with front-end damage that struck and killed Resendiz at the intersection of East Grand Avenue and North Rose Street. Police said at the time that Resendiz was dragged nearly 200 yards. A mechanic who repaired St. Ives' car recently stepped forward to tell police what he knew. Read the rest of this entry »

A 17-year-old boy who was killed in a Riverside car accident while walking on a street in Banning, early morning on January 30, 2010, has been identified as Cody Rodenbucher. KPSP News reports that the teen was struck by a dark-colored car. Cody died from injuries sustained in the collision. However, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Police officials tracked down the suspect vehicle with the help of a surveillance camera in the area and they interviewed 28-year-old Sachin Bhakta, but did not arrest him. Four people suffered injuries in a San Francisco car accident the morning of January 27, 2010, CBS News reports. The accident occurred in the Ingelside Heights neighborhood when two cars crashed at the intersection of Brotherhood Way and Arch Street. San Francisco fire officials said one of the drivers fled the scene of the accident, but police arrived quickly and managed to apprehend the hit-and-run suspect a few blocks away. Hwa Rhee, 78, was killed in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while carrying groceries along a street in Garden Grove, California. Police officials found the elderly woman injured and lying on the westbound lanes of Garden Grove Boulevard, near Sungrove Street. Rhee was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe she may have been struck by a silver Ford F150 pickup truck, which was witnessed leaving the scene. A woman was fatally injured in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while carrying groceries along a Garden Grove street, The Orange County Register reports. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred January 13, 2010. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was apparently found lying on the westbound lanes of Garden Grove Boulevard near Sungrove Street. She died at the scene. According to an eyewitness, a silver-colored Ford F150 four-door pickup was seen speeding away from the scene. A teenager has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run Long Beach car accident that nearly killed prominent defense lawyer, 60-year-old Lynda Vitale, the night of December 15, 2009. According to The Press Telegram, Vitale was walking her dog and crossing the intersection of 36th Street and Myrtle Avenue when a vehicle hit her. Vitale was about half way through the unmarked crosswalk at the intersection, when she was hit so violently and suddenly that she had no idea what hit her, officials say. Police are seeking eyewitnesses in a Los Angeles car accident, which seriously injured two girls, ages 14 and 3. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the teenager and her young niece were crossing Main Street near 43rd Street in South Los Angeles, when a vehicle hit them the evening of December 28, 2009. Both girls sustained major injuries. Police apparently have video footage of the accident and the girls being struck. Authorities describe the driver as a woman, driving an older two-door sedan. An 18-year-old woman sustained critical injuries in an Orange County car accident, after the car in which she was a passenger was rear-ended by a driver who then fled the scene. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury crash occurred the morning of January 3, 2010 at the intersection of South Main Street and MacArthur Boulevard, in Santa Ana. A Ventura car accident has left a 9-year-old boy injured after a pickup truck struck his bicycle. The Ventura County Star reports that the December 16, 2009 accident occurred when the boy was riding his bicycle west on Calle Pensamiento. He made a turn to cross the street when a pickup truck hit him. The suspect vehicle fled the scene going west on Calle Pensamiento toward Avenida De Las Plantas.
