California Car Accident Reports

William Kaplan, 62, was killed in a Riverside car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on the Highway 74 in Mountain Center. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal motorcycle crash occurred the afternoon of February 14, 2010 when Kaplan's 2008 Harley Davidson slammed into the right side of a 1998 Toyota Corolla, which had swerved across the centerline of the highway and into the motorcyclist's path. California Highway Patrol officials said a passenger in the Toyota – a 20-year-old woman -- died of injuries sustained in the crash as well. The 19-year-old driver of the Toyota has been hospitalized with major injuries. Kaplan's wife, who was riding with her husband, survived with major injuries. Read the rest of this entry »

A 17-year-old boy who was killed in a Riverside car accident while walking on a street in Banning, early morning on January 30, 2010, has been identified as Cody Rodenbucher. KPSP News reports that the teen was struck by a dark-colored car. Cody died from injuries sustained in the collision. However, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Police officials tracked down the suspect vehicle with the help of a surveillance camera in the area and they interviewed 28-year-old Sachin Bhakta, but did not arrest him. Three people were injured in a Riverside car accident involving a suspected drunk driver the morning of January 18, 2010. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the injury crash involving two cars occurred on the eastbound 10 Freeway in Palm Desert near Washington Street. One of the vehicles burst into flames and occupants in the other vehicle were trapped inside. California Highway Patrol officials used heavy equipment to rescue the victims from the vehicle. Three injured victims were taken to an area hospital. However, officials say the injuries are not life-threatening. At least three people, including a Cathedral City police officer, sustained injuries in a Riverside car accident the evening of December 31, 2009, after a police car collided with another vehicle at a Palm Springs intersection. According to a KESQ news report, the injury accident happened at the intersection of Ramon and Crossley when an officer hit a Hyundai as he was trying to catch up with another police car. A 4-year-old boy in Riverside was hospitalized after he suffered severe dog bite injuries when a neighbor's Golden Retriever mix bit him in the face the night of June 19, 2009, The Press-Enterprise reports. The child, who has not been identified, suffered multiple punctures to his face. His parents told officials that the boy, who was playing in a neighbor's yard without supervision may have accidentally stepped on the dog's tail. Animal Control officials impounded the 2-year-old female dog and have quarantined it for 10 days. Officials have not yet decided whether the dog is aggressive or vicious. If it is determined to be so, the dog could be euthanized after the dog's owner has had a chance to appeal the decision. Read the rest of this entry »
