I really appreciate the coverage. In fact I was alerted by google that someone wrote about our organization. A headline on Fox News shows Toyota CEO picture with this headline........"Profit over Safety" Please note that no action has been taken on this whole industry! In fact it operates on "Voluntary Standards"..

You...the reader of this posting can go home today...and cut a "Cash For Klunker" pick up and weld on a hitch and put it on the road and as long as it is just ONE (1) pound under 3,000 GVWR then you are good to go.

This posting asks for action! If Toyota can fall so can this industry. They have spent money allot of money to simply crush me. They have told USA Today to keep quiet after a reporter called Larry Copland spent 3 months developing the story.

They have told Will Otero..from NHSTA to simply look the other way..I met with Mr. Otero over 5 years ago.

They have told Governor Kaine to look the other way after a report was given in 2006.

Also note that back in 2004 my House Delegate with my input passed a bill to require "Reflector Tape" on the back of these trailers. It passed and nobody said no!!

Well in 2005 Carry on trailers was so powerful they tried to kill the law because it cost them $8.00 dollars to do it.

Here is the Original language..
House Bill 426
Requires that either two or more reflectors of a type approved by the Superintendent of State Police or at least 100 square inches of solid reflectorized material be affixed to the rear end of every trailer that has an unloaded weight of 3,000 pounds or less. The reflectors or reflective material must be applied so as to outline the rear end of the trailer.

Votes...02/14/04 House: Read third time and passed House BLOCK VOTE (99-Y 0-N)
03/09/04 Senate: Passed Senate with substitute (40-Y 0-N)

Now to show what "Carry On Trailers" and U Haul did..the added this line..in 2005
House Bill 2690

There shall be affixed to the rear end of every utility trailer that has an unloaded weight of 3,000 pounds or less either two or more reflectors of a type approved by the Superintendent or at least 100 square inches of solid reflectorized material. The reflectors or reflective material shall be applied so as to outline the rear end of the trailer. For the purposes of this section, "utility trailer" means a trailer whose body and tailgate consist largely or exclusively of a metal mesh and whose end extends 18 inches or more beyond its taillights.

In other words in order to avoid spending $8.00 for the Tape...all they had to do is make sure the lights were 17.75 inches from the back.

They even got the original Delegate to vote against his own bill
Votes
02/08/05 House: VOTE: BLOCK VOTE PASSAGE (98-Y 0-N)

Well I had a vacation scheduled and I did not go because I was loosing the Game 98 to zero and I had a week to win.

The only person who lisend to me was Senator John Watkins.. and he took out the line....
18 Inches or more..

This is how vicious these companies have become.

So after this...I borrowed money...used my credit cards to fund on the hopes that someone would help and families who lost loved ones would help.

Then I find out that the Insurance companies are settleling and paying the families to not get involved because the companies don't want to admit "Liability" I have the e mails.

This year we have 3 pending pieces of legislation...SB 646 in Virginia HB 145 in Virginia
HB 339 In Alabama...Senate Bill 69 in Alabama... House Bill HB 3851 in Tennessee and SB 3433. I am sharing the link because I believe you are not going to try and stop this vital legislation..

http://www.dangeroustrailers.org/Pending_Legislation_2.html

So now comes the plea...I have barley 2 months left of funds. They have simply outspent me. I asked for help...called Take Charge America...They told be they cannot help because I have budjeted correctly and they told me to call "Bank Of America. I did and they will only reduce my payment by $80.00 a month.

So I used everything I have to save lives..and now I am going down. I read the emails from the families thanking me but litigation is taking forever.

I can't walk away from this cause...and when I meet my maker I do not want to tell him that I gave up due to lack of "Money" Why is it always about money.

I am humbled and I have nothing to hide...doing good should not be like this. Help?

My name is Karl Pratt Inventor/Owner of Safety Sentry Inc. of Granbury, TX. I ran across your blog and I really appreciate your information. I invented a product that will not allow a trailer to become detached from its seated position of the trailer ball if the coupler should fail or even if the wrong size ball was used on its connection..Our Mission at Safety Sentry Inc. is to "Save LIves on Our HIghways" there are to many needless accidents and fatalities on our highway just from these types of events. I have included my website which includes my youtube demo of just what my product can do to prevent these types of incidents... www.safetysentryinc.com
